     JUNIOR HORSE & PONY SHOW

SUNDAY 20TH JANUARY 2008

with ADULT BEGINNERS CLASS

NOTES FOR COMPETITORS

Our event will be held at our new agistment property, 300m north of our Riding Centre, at 1495 Barkers Lodge Rd, Oakdale.  We are 4kms from Oakdale on the RHS, or 14.95kms from Picton on the LHS, and have a brown post & rail front.  Watch for our signs.

After you have parked, please go to the stables area to collect your rider numbers, and collect a map of the arenas. Please attach the numbers to the left side of your saddle blanket. A steward will perform a gear check for you at the entrance to each arena, but ultimately the responsibility of having suitable equipment correctly fitted is up to you (Riding Centre horses excepted).

ENTRIES

Entries close Sunday 6th January 2008.  Late entries will be accepted only if numbers permit.

All entries must be signed by the rider (Adults) or by the rider’s parent or guardian (Riders under 18yo), and be accompanied by a signed Waiver and payment of entry fees.

DRESS

Neat casual.  Current safety standard helmet & correct footwear (boots with a flat sole & defined heel) are compulsory.  We suggest a polo-type shirt and neat & clean jodhpurs or pants.  Formal hacking wear is allowed if you prefer.  A body protector is advised for the showjumping phase, but is not compulsory.  A helmet may be omitted from the Fancy Dress parade only if the horse is being led by a person over 18yo.

SADDLERY

Any appropriate saddlery will be accepted, unless we feel it may be harmful or uncomfortable to the horse.  Our staff have the right to ask you to leave any area & rectify the problem before continuing.

FACILITIES

ALL CLASSES WILL CLOSE FOR LUNCH BETWEEN 12PM & 1PM

Our Canteen will be running all day, with hot & cold drinks, snacks and a sausage sizzle operating for lunch. Your horses must be rested throughout this period, and given ample water.  Ask our staff where our Riding Centre horses must be left for their lunch.

Water: DO NOT ALLOW YOUR HORSES TO DRINK FROM OUR DAM, to reduce the spread of disease.  You may take buckets of water from the dam, or look at our map for locations of taps. Your horse’s welfare must be your priority at all times.

RIDING CLASSES

We have 3 arenas for Beginner, Novice, Adult & Intermediate classes.  Please make sure you are present as your age classes appear, as we cannot wait for you. You must stay in the same class throughout the day.  Ask our staff if for any reason you wish to change your class.  Our staff may ask you to change classes in some circumstance.

Consolation Class is open to any rider who has not won a ribbon in the Riding Ring on the day.

DRESSAGE

There will be 2 dressage arenas, one for a Preparatory Level Test (for Novice & Adult classes), and one for a Preliminary Level Test (for the intermediate classes).  You may ride your test at any time between 9am&2pm.  Dress & attire optional – bits other than snaffles allowed unless the horse’s comfort or safety is in doubt.  Callers are allowed in all classes. For copies of tests, click on Test : EPEC Prepatory1 or EPEC Preliminary 1
